We are very happy to invite the whole ELSA Consortium to the second ELSA General Assembly Meeting. The event is organized by Lancaster University and the ELSA Coordination Team.

Where? The Old England Hotel and Spa, Bowness on Windermere, UK
What else? 11th September – Boat trip on Lake Windermere in the afternoon. This trip is on a self-pay basis. The cost varies depending on the number of participants and range between 15 and 30 GBP.
Good to know
Accommodation
The hotel is currently holding 80 rooms for us, but only for a limited time. These rooms are £159 (B&B) per night. This is a discounted price for people who are attending the ELSA General Assembly Meeting. Please book the rooms by calling hotel staff member Michelle Hipwell on +44 (0)15394 87894 using the booking keyword “ELSA Conference” to access the discounted rate.
There are plenty of other hotels at walking distance from the venue, however it is a very popular location for tourists.
Therefore, the earlier you book, the better.
Location
The hotel is located in Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District. The hotel is set on the beautiful shores of Lake Windermere.
How to reach the venue
Closest airports: Manchester Airport (MAN), Liverpool Airport (LPL). Closest train station: Windermere. The hotel is a short taxi or bus ride from the station. Alternatively it is a 30 minute walk from the train station to the hotel through the towns of Windermere and Bowness.
Where to have lunch/dinner
At walking distance from the venue, there are plenty of restaurants offering excellent food. There will also be a joint dinner on one of the meeting days, which you can register for in the registration form.
Boat Trip
For the last day of our assembly meeting, we are planning a boat trip together on Lake Windermere. The starting point for the boat trip is only a few mins by foot from the venue.

Call for Cross-Workshop Proposals
We aim to promote even greater collaboration within the work packages and use cases to advance safe and secure AI further. We invite you to submit proposals for cross-thematic workshops. These workshops are designed to actively engage consortium members of every career stage and consider the diverse interests within our community. Submission Deadline for your proposal is August 16, 2024.
Presentation and speaker opportunities for SMEs
Are you part of an SME specialising in safe AI? Showcase your innovations and insights with a booth at the ELSA General Assembly Meeting 2024.
Exclusively for the winners of the first ELSA Industry Call there will also be the opportunity to give a talk on their contribution to ELSA’s mission of safe and secure AI. Don’t miss the chance to network with the ELSA community and help shape the future of AI safety. You will receive further information after registration.
Call for poster submissions
As at last year’s Assembly, we are planning to have a poster session. However, we will award a prize for the best poster this time. In addition, we will give a total of 20 PhD students the opportunity to pitch their poster in the form of a 4-minute presentation at our meeting. Preferably, the ELSA presentation template should be used.
First come, first served, so hurry up to register for the poster session and the short talk by August 16, 2024. The poster format should be max A0 in size and vertically orientated. If possible, the ELSA poster template should be used.
We ask you to send the finished posters to elsa-coordination@cispa.de by September 3, 2024 at the latest. We will publish your contribution on the ELSA website and provide the link in advance to the Best Poster Award committee as well as to all meeting attendees. Please note: Posters submitted after September 3, 2024 will not be considered for the Best Poster Award.
